by rupture, I mean that the Soviet government was completely dismantled, and this was required for the restoration of capitalism and bourgeois power. proponents of the capitalist restoration thesis (that capitalism and bourgeois power was restored while the USSR remained extant) would have to answer why this proto-bourgeoisie agitated so keenly for the destruction of the Soviet state entirely, rather than reforming it into a liberal capitalist democracy.
